District 3 Auditions: Monday, October 24th @ Camden Hills Regional High School

  1. Prepared Solo – Danza, Danza Fanciulla Gentile: Learn the Soprano/Tenor (High) or Alto/Bass (Low) Version. Sing along with accompaniment track.
  2. Scale Singing –  Soprano/Tenor in F Major, Alto/Bass in Bb. Sing the scale ascending and descending on solfege syllables.
  3. Sight Singing – Soprano/Tenor in F Major, Alto/Bass in Bb.
    • The examples will only use Do, Re, Mi, Fa, and Sol 
    • The examples will only be step-wise, four measures long 
    • Any combination of Whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes (no more than two eight notes in a row) 
    • Student will hear I-IV-V-I followed by the tonic/octave starting note to prepare the ear before the major scale. After the major scale the the starting notes will be played again. The student may request the chords again. Go to maineallstatechorusauditions.com for help!

All State Chorus Auditions: Friday, November 4th @ Skowhegan Area High School

  1. Choral Assessment – All Creatures Now are Merry Minded: Learn your part and sing it in with the other parts on the recording.
  2. Scale Singing – Soprano/Tenor in F Major, Alto/Bass in Bb. Sing the scale ascending and descending on solfege syllables.
  3. Sight Singing – Soprano/Tenor in F Major, Alto/Bass in Bb.
    • All will start and end on either the lower or upper tonic (do).
    • All will be 8 measures long in ABAC form.
    • Measures 1 & 2 will be identical to measures 5 & 6.
    • Only the following rhythms will be used: whole notes,dotted half, half, quarter, dotted quarter, eighth notes

All Eastern Festival: Selection is done based off of last year’s All State Scores. You must have made the All State Festival to be eligible! Those names have already been submitted.
